Prince Harry opened the Nepal Girl Summit with the nation's first woman president, Bidya Devi Bhandari, as his tour of the country came to an end. The Kathmandu summit will promote gender equality and one of its key aims is to encourage Nepalese society to move away from child marriages. The country has the third highest prevalence of child marriage in south Asia after Bangladesh, which holds the top spot, and then India. The event is a follow-up to the inaugural Girl Summit, co-hosted by the UK government and Unicef in London in 2014, and aims to mobilise policy-makers, activists and citizens to commit to ending child and forced marriage within a generation.During the summit, organised by Nepal's Ministry of Children, Women and Social Welfare - with support from Unicef and the Government's Department for International Development - Harry will meet organisers and participants, including young people.
