Disabled SLC examinee given extra time

Differently-abled examinees appearing in the School Leaving Certificate examinations today heaved a sigh of relief as they were given extra time to complete their paper.“Invigilators were hesitating to give us extra time but officials from the District Education Office-Bhaktapur who were visiting our exam centre today asked us whether we needed extra time. When we told them that the three-hour time was not enough, they directed the exam superintendent and invigilators to give us extra time,” she said, expressing her happiness.
Another visually impaired examinee Sujan Dhakal from Lagankhel-based Namuna Machhindra Secondary School said the invigilator snatched his answer-sheet when the allotted time of three hours was over but the exam superintendent granted him extra time. He has been appearing in the SLC exams from Pulchowk-based Madan Smarak Higher Secondary School exam centre.
“When the invigilators snatched our answer sheets, we asked the invigilators to provide us extra time. The invigilator then gave us extra half-an-hour hour after seeking permission from the exam superintendent,” he added.
According to Office of the Controller of Examinations, 58 examinees from Mahottari district and 14 invigilators from various districts have been expelled for violating the examination code of conduct. SLC examinees will sit for thier science paper tomorrow.
